Starbucks is set to launch a collection in collaboration with the popular K-pop girl group Black Pink.
According to Korean media reports on the 2nd, Starbucks Asia Pacific plans to release merchandise such as tumblers and key rings in partnership with Black Pink. The items under review include tumblers, key rings, and pouches featuring the BLACKPINK logo. The collection is expected to be launched soon, featuring a design that combines the iconic black and pink colors synonymous with BLACKPINK.
This collaboration is seen as a strategic move to capitalize on BLACKPINK's strong and dedicated fan base. Similar to a previous successful partnership with BTS in 2020, Starbucks aims to introduce food and beverage products and limited-edition merchandise through this collaboration.
In the BTS case, collaborative items like key rings, mood lights, and pouches were limited to one purchase per item, resulting in a sell-out frenzy on the day of release. Industry insiders predict a similar situation for BLACKPINK's merchandise release.
This isn't the first time Starbucks and BLACKPINK have worked together. In 2021, Starbucks Thailand launched a collaborative merchandise line with the group, featuring tumblers, key rings, pouches, badges, and eco-bags, exclusively available in Thailand. Consequently, Korean fans expressed a desire to purchase these items directly.
Considering the positive reactions from fans, Starbucks is now planning to introduce the merchandise collection in the Korean market as well. Starbucks Asia Pacific stated that further details about the partnership and collaboration will be revealed through official announcements.
BLACKPINK's massive fanbase has solidified their status as one of the leading K-pop groups, alongside BTS. Notably, they made history in April as the first Korean act to headline the Coachella Festival in the United States. Furthermore, they are set to become the first Korean group to headline the Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival in the UK.
