A legal battle has erupted over the group FIFTY FIFTY, raising concerns about their potential status as a one-hit wonder.
The agency representing FIFTY FIFTY, Attract, and the planning and production service company, The Givers, have recently filed lawsuits against each other. Attract claims to have discovered circumstantial evidence indicating external entities attempting to exploit FIFTY FIFTY members, while The Givers refutes these claims as baseless.
On the 29th, The Givers's legal representative stated, "The Givers earnestly engaged in the project starting June 2021 after receiving a business service request from Attract's CEO, Jeon Hong-joon. As of May 31, all relevant planning, production, and operational tasks were handed over to Attract and concluded."
Regarding the alleged external forces mentioned by Attract, the representative stated, "Our company has not intervened in any way." Attract has spread false information, defaming our company, its representatives, executives, and employees, and impeding our work. In particular, "Cupid" is a song we possessed even before the FIFTY FIFTY project, and we are prepared to respond legally.
On the 28th, FIFTY FIFTY members also voiced their position. They denied the existence of external forces and filed an application for a temporary injunction to suspend the validity of their exclusive contract with the Seoul Central District Court. They emphasized that, without any external influence, the four members reached an independent decision based on trust and transparency.
Attract has lodged a complaint against The Givers for obstructing the transfer process, deleting the company's email account, and secretly acquiring copyrights. FIFTY FIFTY has applied to suspend the effectiveness of their exclusive contract with Attract. The Givers responded by refuting Attract's claims, creating a complicated situation.
As a result of the FIFTY FIFTY incident, the court has become embroiled in a full-fledged legal battle, making it challenging to predict the outcome. Although FIFTY FIFTY achieved significant success last year, reaching the 17th spot on the U.S. Billboard main chart with their song "Cupid," " their future has become uncertain due to the ongoing disputes. There are concerns that they may be relegated to the status of a one-hit wonder, overshadowing their initial spectacular performance seven months after their debut.
Considering FIFTY FIFTY's short seven-month career and their sole hit song "Cupid," the industry widely believes that achieving a transparent resolution is virtually impossible.
Moreover, there is considerable public skepticism regarding FIFTY FIFTY's position.
Online communities are filled with skepticism and criticism towards FIFTY FIFTY. Keywords such as "ungratefulness," "betrayal," and "unreasonable demands for settlement" dominate discussions, with only a few individuals supporting FIFTY FIFTY's stance.
It is disheartening to witness the uncertainty surrounding FIFTY FIFTY's future activities.
