Seoul will be awash in purple for over two weeks to commemorate the 10th anniversary of BTS' debut on the 13th of next month.
Festa, an event cherished by both BTS and their devoted fans (known as ARMY), is traditionally held during this time of year. To mark the 10th anniversary, this year's celebration will be even more vibrant.
On the 25th, Big Hit Music, BTS' agency, announced that the "2023 BTS Festa" will take place across Seoul from the 12th to the 25th of next month. The slogan for this year's Festa is "BTS PRESENTS EVERYWHERE," which reflects the idea that gifts from BTS can be found everywhere.
Seoul's renowned attractions, including Han River Sebit Island, Namsan Seoul Tower, Seoul City Hall building, Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), and World Cup Bridge, will be adorned in purple—the symbolic color of BTS—and offer various forms of entertainment.
The highlight of the event will be held on the 17th of next month. A festival will be held at Yeouido Hangang Park, where both ARMY and the general public will come together in harmony. In fact, it is rumored that ARMY members from different countries are already scrambling to book flights to Korea. There is also great anticipation regarding the impact of this BTS celebration on Korean tourism.
As part of the festivities, a stamp tour called "Map of Seoul in Purple" will be held at a Seoul tourism promotion booth. The event will include hashtag campaigns and BTS-related prizes. By visiting BTS-related locations such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Hangang Park Bulletproof Forest and uploading certified photos, participants will receive BTS merchandise as gifts.
Since 2017, BTS has served as honorary tourism ambassadors for Seoul, playing a significant role in promoting the city's charm to the world. Big Hit Music expressed that this year's theme, "gifts are everywhere" and "BTSs exist everywhere," perfectly captures the essence of the celebration.
Overseas ARMY members are busy planning domestic tours, with the starting point being the Cheongdam-dong office where BTS debuted under the former Big Hit Entertainment (now Hive). The tour itinerary includes a visit to a ssambap restaurant frequented by BTS members and Dosan Park, where they enjoyed leisurely walks. Besides Seoul, there are also ARMYs preparing for a "holy pilgrimage" to Maengbang Beach in Samcheok, Gangwon-do, where the cover of the single "Butter" was filmed, as well as Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung, which served as the backdrop for the album "YOU NEVER WALK ALONE."
As Jin and J-Hope are currently serving in the military, surprise events such as group performances may be challenging to organize. However, there is a possibility of a surprise event on the 16th of next month to commemorate the screening of two documentaries showcasing J-Hope and Suga's solo activities.
Further details about the BTS Festa will be announced once they are confirmed.
