Actor and member of the group GOT7, Park Jin-young, will be enlisting in the army.
On the 5th, Park Jin-young posted a handwritten letter on his social media account to announce his enlistment.
In his message to fans, he said, "Hello everyone, I'm Park Jinyoung. As the weather has gotten warmer, I hope you are all doing well." He continued, "I'm sure you were surprised to hear that I will be enlisting as a driver. As previously announced, I will be fulfilling my national defense obligations and will be enlisting on May 8th. I know everyone is worried, but after meeting all of you, I have become more confident and reliable. Therefore, I promise to stay healthy, experience many things, and come back as a better person."
According to sources in the K-pop industry, Park Jin-young's enlistment has been confirmed for May 8th. Born in 1994, he recently received a warrant and will be serving in the army.
Park Jin-young's enlistment was announced last year, and in an interview following the release of his first leading film role in "Christmas Carol" at the end of the year, he said, "Although it's unsettling, I believe it's better to approach my enlistment with a calm mindset since every man must serve. Of course, when the time comes to leave, I may shed a tear at home, but for now, I humbly accept it."
As a result, Park Jin-young began preparing for his enlistment early on, and earlier this year, he had a meaningful time with fans at home and abroad through the release of his solo album "Chapter 0: WITH" and the 10th anniversary global fan concert "2023 PARK JINYOUNG FANCONCERT "RENDEZVOUS" IN SEOUL: Secret meeting between you and me." He also completed filming for the Disney+ series "The Witch."
Park Jin-young made his debut as an actor and singer in the same year, 2012, with JJ Project and KBS 2TV's "Dream High 2." He then debuted as a member of the boy group GOT7 in 2014 and received global love. Additionally, he has gained popularity through his work in dramas such as MBC's "When a Man Loves," JTBC's "Dear Eun-dong," SBS's "Legend of the Blue Sea," tvN's "Psychometric Him," "Hwayang Yeon-hwa - The Moment of Life," and "Devil Judge."
In particular, last year, he brought the character in the original TVing series "Yumi's Cells" to life, portraying the character with a high degree of fidelity to the source material, and expanded his acting skills on the big screen with his roles in the Netflix films "Yacha" and "Christmas Carol." As he prepares for his next film, "The Witch," before enlisting in the military, it minimizes the disappointment of his absence and encourages his healthy military service.
The actor and singer will be serving his national defense obligations starting May 8th.
