“What games will be played in the second season of Squid Game?”
Squid Game is now Netflix’s biggest hit reaching 111m viewers. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the next season to drop, including us at NAKD SEOUL offices. Thus came the idea to talk about the games that were in Squid Game Season 1, and also introduce some Korean kid’s games that would be great for Season 2. AND we’ve put them together in a nice neat package available for purchase here.

Game of Marbles (구슬치기)

While in Squid Game players could choose whatever rules for deciding the winners in the game of marbles, there is a typical game which Korean children play.
Ddakji (딱지치기)

You’ve seen Gong Yoo offer money to play this game in Squid Game. The rules are very simple, take turns hitting the opponent’s ddakji on the ground. If you flip your opponent’s ddakji, you win.
Five Stones (공기놀이)

This one is a playground favorite. While it’s not in Squid Game Season 1, we definitely think it’ll appear in future seasons.
The rules are simple: place five stones on the ground, pick one up and throw it up high. Before the stone reaches the ground, you have to grab another stone off the ground without touching the others. If you succeeded you go to the next level, where you throw one stone up but grab two stones off the ground. Level 3 is one stone up and three stones off the ground. Whenever you drop a stone or touch the other stones your turn ends. Watch the video to see how it plays out.
Jegi (제기차기)

You’ve done Keepy Ups before, well this is the Korean version of that game. You have to kick the Jegi up in the air and kick it again before it hits the ground.
Game of Strings (실뜨기)

This one is harder to explain in words. You’ll have to watch our video.
Top (전통팽이)

The special thing about Korean tops is that we have a whip to help it spin longer. Make the top spin initially with your hands. Then after it has stabilized, grab your whip and start whipping the sides of the top. The top that lasts the longests wins!
These are all very simple and fun games that anyone can enjoy, but add the element of battle royale and money in it a la Squid Game? You have a recipe for absolute madness. We can’t wait for Season 2 of Squid Game, and while you’re waiting you should definitely try our Squid game inspired Korean traditional board game set!
