Amid heated local reactions ahead of the group Blackpink's performance in Hanoi, some are calling for caution against ticket fraud.
Local media, including Vietnam Net, reported on the 9th that Blackpink, a famous Korean girl group, will come to Hanoi at the end of July, and their performance is generating excitement among Vietnamese fans. Blackpink plans to hold a concert called "Bon Pink" at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi for two days on the 29th and 30th of this month. This will be Blackpink's first performance in Vietnam.
During the online reservation period, nearly 300,000 people visited the official website to purchase tickets for Blackpink's performance. However, despite the long waiting times, it was not easy to secure tickets. According to the media, tickets sold out within two hours of the concert ticket reservation opening on the 7th.
It is true that My Dinh National Stadium has a capacity of 40,000 seats, and even with standing areas included, it is difficult to meet the demand of fans. As a result, fraudulent activities targeting fans who failed to purchase tickets are on the rise, which explains the increasing availability of tickets for Blackpink's performance.
In the Blackpink concert ticket hunting community, Nguyen Tuizhung shared that she became a victim of online ticket purchase fraud. She mentioned that when she inquired about purchasing CAT5 grade (1.2 million dong) tickets for the performance, the seller requested an upfront payment of 900,000 dong. "To reassure the buyer, the seller even sent me a picture of his ID and family registration certificate," Nguyen said. "However, their attitude completely changed after I sent the payment."
Furthermore, many fans who were unable to purchase tickets through official sales outlets have been exposed to various fraudulent activities as they obtain tickets through other channels, as reported by the media.
According to the anti-phishing project, a non-profit organization dedicated to IT security in Vietnam, there has been a surge in online ticketing frauds. Some influencers are increasingly printing fake tickets to gain likes, views, or engage in fraudulent sales, often taking pictures with the tickets to deceive others.
The head of the anti-phishing project advised young people to exercise caution when purchasing tickets on the "black market" to avoid becoming victims of fraud. The best approach is to refrain from using websites, social pages, groups, or individuals from unknown sources, he emphasized, as most of them engage in fraudulent practices by demanding upfront payments from buyers.
He also emphasized the need for individuals and organizations to be vigilant against this type of cybercrime, as there have been cases where online ticket purchases are accompanied by demands for large donations or other conditions in exchange for supposed benefits.
