Starbucks is collaborating with BLACKPINK to release a new drink. This drink will be simultaneously launched in nine major Asian countries, along with a variety of Starbucks-branded merchandise and cards. However, it's important to note that the food products will only be available in the Korean market.
According to Starbucks Korea, the BLACKPINK collaboration products, which will be available for a limited time starting from the 25th of this month, will include Frappuccino drinks, food items, stylish merchandise (MDs), and Starbucks cards.
The featured drink, "Black Pink Strawberry Chocolate Cream Frappuccino," will have pink whipped cream and heart-shaped chocolate with the BLACKPINK logo. The collaborative food items, "Black Pink Strawberry Cream Choco Baumcuchen" and "Black Pink Strawberry Cream Choco Burn," will only be offered in Korea.
Additionally, Starbucks will release 11 types of beverage containers and 6 types of lifestyle accessories. The beverage containers will include reusable cups, mugs, and tumblers, while the accessories will consist of graffiti-style print tote bags, yoga mats, passport holders, and key chains.
This collaboration appears to be a strategic move to maximize customer attraction through BLACKPINK's global fandom. Partnering with highly popular and recognized artists like BLACKPINK can broaden the consumer base and strengthen the brand's influence, making it a consistently favored marketing strategy in the distribution industry. BLACKPINK has already demonstrated its popularity by topping the list of artists' YouTube channels worldwide, with 90 million subscribers on its official YouTube account alone.
The BLACKPINK x Starbucks collection and limited edition drinks will be available from July 25 at select Starbucks stores in South Korea until stocks run out.
Starbucks previously collaborated with BTS in 2020, introducing a range of collaborative MD products and food and beverage items. During that time, there was a rush of customers seeking the limited-edition collaboration products, resulting in a sell-out crisis on the day of release.
