Apple CEO Tim Cook congratulated the opening of the fifth Apple store in Korea, Apple Gangnam. Newjeans, a new K-pop group, expressed their joy at joining "Today at Apple," a free session at the Apple Store.
On March 31st, CEO Cook tweeted, "Our team is delighted to invite Newjeans to a special event at Apple's Gangnam district. We are excited to open the doors of Apple Gangnam and welcome our customers," he said.
In addition, CEO Cook retweeted a post from Newjeans' official Twitter account. In the post, Newjeans visited Apple Gangnam and took a commemorative photo.
Apple Gangnam officially opened on the same day at 5 p.m. Apple previously announced a collaborative project with Newjeans during a meeting held at Apple Gangnam on March 29th.
As part of the Today at Apple program, "Music Session with Newjeans" will be held in Gangnam starting April 1st. The session will run every Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for 15 minutes every hour. Participants can enjoy a special listening session of Newjeans' "OMG (Apple Music Edition)," which is only available on Apple Music.
Apple Gangnam is the fifth Apple store in Korea and opened six months after the fourth store, Apple Jamsil, opened in September of last year. While it took about three years for the second store, Apple Yeouido, to open after Apple Garosu-gil opened in 2018, three Apple stores, including Apple Jamsil (opened in September 2022) and Apple Gangnam (opened in March 2023), have opened in Korea in just one year since the third store in Myeong-dong opened in April 2022.
When Apple Jamsil opened in September last year, CEO Cook said, "Apple Jamsil is located in lively Songpa-gu. I am delighted to meet more customers in Seoul," expressing his congratulations.
