The GOAT of Korean heroes, Yi Sun-Sin

Who is Admiral Yi Sun-Sin?

Though little-known in the West, Korean Admiral Yi Sun-Shin (1545–1598) is a major figure in Korean history, and we refer to him as The Greatest Korean War hero of all time.

Yi sun-shin was a great navy leader of Joseon who saved his country on the peril of break down during the Imjin War.

His technological and strategic innovations triggered a revolution in Asian naval warfare and initiated both the “modern” naval force and style of combat.

Admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545-1598) fought 23 battles against the Japanese forces between 1592 and 1598, where he won every single one of them without losing a single ship.

In his most famous battle – the Battle of Myeongnyang(Oct 25~26, 1597) he was outnumbered 333 to 13, yet managed to defeat the Japanese forces, without losing a single ship of his own.

In the final Noryang Battle, he left the famous patriotic words that “the fight is still on that do not tell them that I died.”

A statue of the great Admiral Yi sun-shin stands tall and proud at the centre of Gwanghwamun Square today as representing Korean pride and resilience.

<Watch ‘The Admiral: Roaring Currents’ on Netflix. It tells the heroism of Admiral Yi.>

"The fight is still on. Do not tell them that I died."

What is this project about?

We created these unique and one-of-a-kind sweatshirts to pay homage to the GOAT by collaborating with local Korean graphic designers.

Our goal is to connect our community of local brands to a global audience and expand their reach beyond Korea’s borders.

How have we made it?

So how did this come all together you might ask? Well, here is a quick and simple run down.

First, we scout and approach talented graphic artists by assessing their portfolio. We brainstorm how we can express what symbolizes Seoul with the key focus/theme of how the city connects the old & new.

We ensure that the artists have full creative freedom and control in making the design.

Once the design is ready, we then start gathering all the essential fabric materials, formulate an outline for the customers on our order size data.

All the manufacturing processes/all the pieces will be put together in Dongdaemun.  Dongdaemun is regarded as the fashion capital of Seoul.

We collaborate with local workshops for each manufacturing process/step.

Last but not at least, we shoot the promotional videos and photos and then sell them to you guys!
