I would say mental health issues are very easily overlooked and people lack the awareness. People often think being depressed and having a depression is the same thing. People with depression are often told to just get over it, everything will be fine, go do something fun to change your mood, etc.. Not many people know how to support those who struggle with mental health.
People may casually say, I am depressed sort of thing, but rarely go get help. I am pretty sure people will be much happier and less drinking if they actually take care of mental health!
