Military service as a social worker

Why can’t Shownu from Monsta X communicate with his fans during his military service as a social worker?  Will he get “leave” like if he was in the regular military, and is communication allowed then?  Where is he living right now-in the barracks, the dorm with his members or with his parents?  Any other details would be appreciated!
